Friday Tidbits

As always, Happy Aloha Friday, if it is, or if it isn't. Korean Festival tomorrow at Kapiolani Park in Waikiki (photo above). They're setting up for tomorrow. You're already aware for yourself that 2 out of the 4 regular cast members of the Hawaii Five-O task force are koreans. Grace Park (Canadian actress) and Daniel Dae Kim (Korean-American, previously of "Lost", also filmed in Hawaii). Perhaps, Grace will grace the festival with a guest appearance as the master of ceremonies, other than that, the highlight of the annual Korean Festival will remain the kim chee eating contest. The winning prize is free perfume for a week.

We briefly interrupt regular programming to bring you the following message....

Our tradewinds have been blustery over the past few days. The plastic chair mat, that I bought from Office Depot, that I set out "temporarily" on the lanai (balcony), Home Depot had rolled up the chair mat and taped the roll together for delivery, well the tradewinds knocked over the rolled chair mat and the roll eventually lodged itself of course against the end of the movable lanai door, essentially locking the door shut from the outside. The harder I tried to push the lanai door open, the more stubbornly the roll lodged itself in place. In the end, I had to stick the handle of a mop through the open jalousies to free the roll using the mop sideways.

The garbage container is really heavy, but by golly, the wind knocked it over when I had it outside today for pick up. I like the wind for laundry, but this is ridiculous. We also had off and on showers. Makes it crazy for hanging out laundry. Isn't this really weird summer weather? We were hoping to generate a lot of solar energy this summer. Not happening. I usually live in tank tops during the summer. But no... it's t-shirts instead. Weird...

Oh... and I sure do hate to miss the Korean Festival. That would have been a lot of fun. I really wish I could drive.... farther. Ah well... I'll be looking forward to your post about it. Don't forget to take pictures, especially if Daniel Dae Kim shows up. Grace is fine for you, but I'd like to see Daniel.

Kay- yea, strong the tradewinds for summer. And no, I probably won't attend the Korean Festival. Same thing, every year. The organizers arrange parking at the nearby Kapiolani community college and shuttle the people to and from the festival.

I wouldn't mind getting a photo with Grace Park. Girl is hot, and can act well too. I'd like to meet Daniel Dae Kim and Yunjin Kim too. =D

As for the lanai door, at least you weren't trying to get out because of an emergency.

Brad- I think that Grace goes back home to spend the Canadian summer. Must be nice there this time of year. With freeing the door, I thought it might end up being an exercise in futility. But the mop handle was long enough....by an inch....to reach the rolled-up chair mat.

How are the summers down there, temperature-wise? I imagine it's a lot more mild up here. I know it's about 10 degrees cooler here than it is in Georgia, for example.

Brad- we've been having the usual best weather on the planet at this stage of summer, although the trade winds have been on the strong side. Temperatures rarely get into 90 degrees here as a lot of people might tend to think about a tropical location.

We really need to come out there to visit Hawaii.

It was very blustery here, too. And we were really riding the waves on our swim down at Richardson Beach.

Hattie- fortunately it's not a cold wind, and the strong winds does disperse the pollution in Honolulu.
