Kay- no, to my knowledge it's not a virus, per se. Um, ad ware? The problem is that it has sound, and depending on how high my volume is set, it's more irritating on some occasions. My pet peeve ad.
Nate- it's on just about every website I visit. If it's not on the front page, then it appears on a secondary page.
It's been a while, years actually, since my anti-virus program caught anything but within the past week it nabbed two. Both coming from e-mailing. Be aware of anything from UPS. I have Symantec Norton AV Corporate edition courtesy of the Feds since I work for them and we can install it on our home computers. Daily upgrades.
Nate- well, the same ad's latest appearance was on the bottom of an Email (AOL). The pet peeve is the thing has sound, otherwise it's something I'd just ignore. The ad actually flashes but the sound is a nuisance.

Ummm.... Do you have a virus or something?
I've never seen this on my computer. You must be infected!

Me, I have my sound on mute all the time, only turning the sound on when I do want to hear something.
