Mountain View

Something about how the sun shines on the Manoa mountains during this part of the year, late afternoon, that makes it nice living on the Ala Wai canal side of greater Waikiki. The season is upon our great nation once again when Americans must decide whether to wish each other a "Merry Xmas," or "Happy Holidays." For the swedish, it's a happy "fire hydrant," or a happy "tree." You probably didn't get that one. At any rate, the merry christmas, happy holidays, thingie, is the stupidest controversy ever, bar none. Who were it the political correctness genius's that started it all? Why, of course, "12 loons a-quacking." And a partridge in a pear tree. Bare with me. I'm experiencing the after effects of post-thanksgiving syndrome.

Looks like another lovely day in the islands.

Rowena- full moon and the night sky seems to be clearing up, too. Tomorrow, tomorrow, shows promise of being even better.

What you thinking of getting yourselves for Xmas? Me, I gotta get a new refrigerator.

Nate- it'll take a while to answer that question. Probably a number of things. Home Depot supposedly provides free delivery on refrigs but I wouldn't buy off-brands, and they even take away the old refrig for a fee. If it's only moving the refrig to the sidewalk for bulky item pickup, then they'll do that for free. I've been thinking about a new refrig, myself, but so much hassle setting asides a free day for the delivery.

I need a compact refrigerator. Where I live in a small 2-BR attached to the main house I have a litttle kichenette. Had a 10 cubic foot frost-free refrigerator for nearly 20 years. But a few years ago when I was home on leave it died so got one of those small ones to keep my beer cold when I was visiting, though not frost-free. A pain in the oole to manually defrost. So now need to get the bigger one again. Found only two possibilities at Sears. Gotta be frost-free! Don't have to worry about getting rid of the old one - long gone. And the small one is still good and my daughter wants to use it as a "drink" refrigerator in the main house.

Nate- there's this in-between size about 2-feet wide and not very deep, with a separate freezer compartment, if they're still around. The annoying thing with non defrost compacts is that as soon as a ¼-inch thick layer of ice forms, it seems like a few days later, the ice has grown to a thick glacier.
