Dear TypePad
my blogging software stopped working just about the day I noticed the "Try the New TypePad" banner on the post page. I am not thrilled with anything "new," as your previous "new and improved TypePad" did not have all the bugs worked out before its premature release and was a disaster.

Amen, brother. Not the best product.
I not about to endure months for TypePad to work out the bugs on their latest New & Improved version, again.
Over half the time in the last few days when I try to log into you I've been getting Google instead.
Yikes, I neglected to map my new Blogspot URL to the Network Solutions' server where I have my domain name registered. I did do a redirect "from" Network Solutions, but you have to do it from both ends, otherwise as I found out, things don't work. Improper protocol. Now, what'll I blog about, LOL.
Hey Ron, this is "Brad F.".
If you need any help importing your old content or installing a theme, or a third party comment system... whatever... you just let me know and I'll be happy to help you out.
I'm no pro, per se, but I've been using Blogger for about a year and I'd say I'm pretty good with it.
I just don't know what I don't know, yet, with Blogger, to ask coherent questions.
The first thing I can suggest is going to your dashboard, then the layout page. Then click on the "Add Gadget" link and browse those gadgets to see what's available. There are lots of other things you can add in the way of third party stuff too. If you haven't looked at my blog recently, check it out. I redid the layout, yet again. It's very versatile.
Oh, and take a look at http://btemplates.com/ .
Those are all free templates that you can use for your Blogger blog. Installing them is fairly easy, especially if you do it before you start adding a bunch of other stuff in.
oh no! I have plenty of server space if you want I can set you up with space and wordpress. Super easy, shoot me an email.
btw, where's your Email?
Free hosting. Can't be mad about that. I thought you had hosting though, just didn't want to use typepad anymore. Come to think of it how come you didn't just switch to Wordpress? That seems to be the blog host of choice for self hosted blogs.
with free hosting you still need a blogging software which is how Blogger works it, providing the combination thereof. My registered domain, itself, is hosted by Network Solutions. Wordpress didn't have that many perks way back when I set up my TypePad website or as many support sites as they have now. I became proficient tweaking TypePad so stuck to TypePad. Otherwise you spend too much hours designing and configuring your blog at the expense of blogging, and believe me, I've had entire web pages get unhinged, after the simple press of the save button.
Blogger's templates are a lot easier to manage than that.
Actually, wordpress is very easy to use and modify. There are lots of designs and templates to choose from. I was offering free hosting and space so that you could avoid being at the mercy of giant free services. Anyway- just something to think about if you choose.
"at the mercy of" sounds kind of ominous. Blogger us rarely down. Being a Google product it's probably more reliable than the majority of hosting companies. When it dies go down it's briefly. There was that bout of problems recently with being able to view hosted pages but even self hosted has that problem sometimes.
Kahuku- allow me a few weeks to adjust. I've got litterally thousands of posts to export from TypePad.
Brad- Blogger is some what like TypePad. TypePad was founded by Meena and Ben, just 2 people. Blogger by 3 people and they still don't have that large of a staff even after being bought by Google. The difference is that Blogger still controls Blogger. TypePad duet does not have the same amount of say after they sold their brand.
No worries. Offer is available anytime. It should be a pretty easy step to export from typepad and import into wordpress.
Golly RONW, welcome to the club! Nice that you have so much tech help to pick and choose from, but all I really want to see are more pictures of foodstuffs balanced precariously on your lanai railing. Templates? I hope you bring back that same image from your previous domain.
Mikey- I haven't found the steps to export TypePad to my present blog, except individually, post by post. My blog is not diary, more conversations du jour, so I might leave things as they are.
Rowena- I would be working on templates for background image and sidebars, etc., however, I forget how already.
