Boy, a second after I posted the pic above, there was this huge boom. My computer went OFF than back ON. Am I glad that I plugged everything into a surge protector strip. Then the car alarms went off on the street below. You could hear the paddlers below yell out a huge whoa.

Sounds exciting! I can't imagine not using a surge protector. I get nervous when I'm out and about and I plug my laptop directly into a wall outlet.
Speaking of power accessories for computers, I've been thinking about getting one of those APC power backup things, that's basically a big backup battery that you plug your computer into, so you don't lose your work when the power goes out. That would be nice.
The evening was an exciting and amazing show! Was in Kalihi when I saw a bolt strike the radio tower by Kapalama Canal, maybe only a half mile away.
BF - As for an APC UPS system, have been using for ten years. May times have been saved by it. To me it's a necessity.
It was amazing last night! Good grief! It was like fireworks in the sky all night!
Brad- I've seen those power backup systems. They give you 20-minutes power, more minutes the more expensive, but for my purposes, there's nothing that's that important. Just inconvenience.
Nate- the news said 15,000 lightings strikes last night. I'm amazed that fortunately, we didn't have a repeat of that past power outage when a transformer (?) was hit, and it took forever for the electric company to restore power.
Kay- At one point, while I was in bed, thunder seemed to be non-stop for five, ten, minutes or more.

Mokihana- The newspaper said that there were about 40,000 cloud-to-ground lightning strikes, island wide during a day and a half period. Fortunately, the electric company musta installed a surge protector, or lighting didn't strike a transformer, because it took days for the electric company to fully restore power to the Oahu in the last incident.
