Kay- it's always a diplomat's chess game with these revelations where the Russians are usually better than the US at it. For example, the Cuban Missile Crisis. That was never a "crisis." The US had just installed nuclear missiles in Turkey under the guise of the Nato mutual defense umbrella, but US warheads, nonetheless. At the height of the Cuban Missile Crisis, Kennedy's brother strolls over to the Russian embassy and agrees to immediately pull US missiles out of Turkey bases. Crisis ends.
