Today, Just a Tinge of Vog

I'll venture a guess that the vog component in today's air fell in the range of 5-ppm or lower, down from yesterday's horrendous 5-billion ppm's. In relative terms, mind you. I do know that before the advent of weather reports and Doppler satellites, people predicted the local weather by sticking their heads out the window to gather up the necessary meteorological data. Thereupon the high council would convene and debate just how many goats to slaughter to forestall the monsoon. Just being humorous. In the top and second photo, you'll notice that you're able to make out the fairways on the Ala Wai golf course, reputed to be the busiest municipal golf course in the US. Recently they cleared away the mangroves overgrowing the banks on the golf course shore of the Ala Wai canal so you're now able to view the fairways from ground level when you're taking a stroll or driving by on the Waikiki side of the canal.

Another lovely day in paradise...not a touch of frost anywhere. I take it that you've been too busy strolling around the neighborhood...where's the usual item on the lanai railing shot?

Rowena- last week, I bought the largest bottle of dishwashing detergent that they sold on the store shelf, you knows, to save the environment by using less plastic containers by refilling the my dishwashing bottle. The bastard been huli over the lanai railing while I was focused my camera. All over the pavement below the apartment. Spent almost an hour hosing it off because of the suds.

Nate- actually a few days off. I went ride to Kailua side and the weather was picture perfect on that side of the island, too. Boy glad that I did that. When I was riding down the Pali highway, town bound, there was this huge plume of smoke on the other side of the road. Looked like big accident because traffic was halted at that spot. But then I see one car making itself out of the plume, like in the movies, tailpipe smoking. Seems like it must have blown a gasket or something. But the smoke was so thick that Kailua bound drivers had pause before proceeding. I really don't know how much further the culprit car could have drove uphill or why the driver would try to.

You know that it's illegal to hose down detergent to a storm drain? Unless it's "green" kind stuff. Reular soap does bad things to them fish.

Nate- I wasn't aware of that. They'll just have to change the laws, then.

My mother has gotten sick 5 times this winter and I'm beginning to think it's the vog. Seriously.

Kay- it may be. Also, if you've grown different plants in the back yard, or if there's something different in the neighbors yards or something in the neighborhood that was there last year, might be a correlation.
