Wednesday's Skies

At 11am the jets do a flyby outside my lanai (balcony) in the skies above the Ala Wai canal on their way to Punchbowl National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific where they execute the missing man formation in commemoration of Veteran's Day. It's always a somber sight to take in as the jets roar by. See photo below. On the topic of photos, Rowena recently inquired about borrowing a photo from this blog. I'm guessing that she intends to show it to her dogs and they'll chew it up in place of the household furniture. Hotel Waikiki's official policy in that regards is an unequivocal, "no need even ask," and the blanket permission applies to anyone and everyone else as well. However, if you really really want to purchase a random photo outright, then I'll let you steal it for a measly $5,000 for the masterpiece. You've probably already noticed that my photos have all been watermarked to insure attribution. Yes, borrowers could easily erase the watermark or crop the photo and feign that they're the original author, but like who really cares. Also, big news, I've finally shimmed the microwave on the kitchen counter so the door stays put in the fully open position while I'm taking things out of it.

LOL! I had to ask...my lawyers advised that it would be a wise thing to do so, 'cause you know, in the realm of "what's mine is mine" and "what's yours is yours", written or verbal permission simply clarifies the acknowledgement of the parties involved.

What a pile of ****.

Actually, I had it in mind to send a shout out for "Dove posso trovare lo Spam?" (where can I find spam) in Italy. The guy in the middle eastern store, when told that it was an american product (he asked what country it was from), stated point blank, "We don't carry it." I shoulda said it was a hawaiian product.

About the Spam...if Muslim store wouldn't have since it's pork.

Rowena- Nate brings up a valid point, and now the Muslim's might think you're trying to poison them. Also, if the gov't gets wind of this copyright-copywrong ruckus, they'll liable to impose an Internet tax because the gov't will recognize a lack of unity, and maybe even greediness, amongst the Internet people. All things considered, we don't pay very much to use the Internet, and an excise tax like on your telephone's bill, wouldn't bankrupt anybody, but then the gov't wouldn't know when to stop, for example, they'll tack on a 911 surcharge. IMHO, it's stupid for people to get so proprietary about their photos because the Internet's primary purpose was to simplify desseminating knowledge, and that's generally why I started watermarking my photos for self-attribution to obviate infringement issues with no assembly required by an "infringer." YouTube wouldn't exist if everybody went sue crazy. Plus, if other websites didn't post your pics, odds are, they'll never get seen anywhere else outside our blogs. They're doing you a favor.

Also a while after 9/11 when there was talk of airline hijacking prevention and all the talk of sky marshalls...there was a half serious suggestion of putting a pig on each plane. Seems if a Muslim died with a pig, he wouldn't get to see Allah and get his 52 virgins.

Nate- I still think it's a sound idea. If pigs could fly, then. Btw, how about that game played with a pigskin? Does the religious prohibitions pertain to all pork by-products asides consumption.

Yeah but how would he know that it's pork? I didn't tell him that it was pork parts. And anyways, he had some kind of meat product on his shelves although it was probably beef. Not sure. All I know is that it looked like chinese luncheon meat.

It's the way he made that statement which made me suspect that perhaps he was anti-american. Could be just my imaginations...too late to ask now. Since he no mo' spam, I not going back dea evah again! Hmmmpff!

Spam is pork? Goodness. I never even stopped to contemplate what Spam was constructed of. I think I'd just like to stop at saying "it's pork." Anything beyond that, I don't want to know....

Rowena- my bad, I missed what you were originally saying. The truth is that americans aren't well liked in many parts of the world, so just wear a Canadian flag pin on your blouse. Many americans do that while travelling overseas.

Ann- I don't think that even the people who work at the Spam factory know what gets toss into a can of Spam. Just different organs on different weeks.
