Then There Is This

50¢ for a loaf of bread today at Long's Drugs (CVS). Unfortunately, only a single loaf would fit in my saddlebags. Huge loss. The cashier said that the store had a close out on the bread. Which started my wondering what do grocery stores do with all their unsold vegetables and fruits. About 11pm, I realized that I didn't have anything to make a late night sandwich with, except a can of Planter's peanuts that I also bought on sale today, until, oh yeah, I also bought ®Spam from the same store .... ®Spam sandwich, why not.

I am still on the hunt for spam. I was told that it does exist on shelves in Italy, the problem is which shelves? Most likely not the ones that give me sticker points for free stuff when I collect enough to fill my card...

Rowena- didn't you bring some Spam back with you on your last trip here, I guess wouldn't pass airport security. I'll send some to you for $200 per can.

You could make a killing opening up a local grinds shop online. Check this one out - $73 for 6 pounds of poi. SERIOUSLY. Sure. The cost includes 2 day Fed Ex. But it's ONLY SIX POUNDS OF POI. http://www.hawaiianfoodonline.com/index.cfm

J-Damn- there's poi in bottles, but it don't look ono, unfortunately. Local Costco sells poi in 5-lbs tubs.

Let's see...the last time I was back home it was Oct/Nov 2008. What with luggage weight restrictions, I can only bring back so much spam you know. Add to that other must-have items that no local girl can do without.

On the topic of poi: my Slippah Time bloggy friend said he found a company that sells powdered poi online and ships to Italy. I am so not using powdered taro. Ever.

Rowena- powdered taro, LOL? No can. If could do that, there'd be powdered ®Spam
