This Day, In Honor of the Greatest Hawaiian Warrior

A1
My camera just happened to malfunction at the very moment the Royal Court was passing me in today's parade.  That's the best photo I end up with.

A2_1
While the King's guards weren't too pleased and kinda gave me the once over.  For some reason, I wasn't in any mood to argue with the gentlemen.

A4
One of the ceremonial princesses of a neighbor island.  They always ride horses for the parade instead of automobiles.

A5
Apparently, these kids are from Missouri, and you could tell that they just weren't conditioned for the heat, at all.  Especially at this point, Waikiki is at the end of the parade route and having marched on asphalt all the way....  Some of the chaperones were even administering smelling salts to the band members for heat strokes.  They really earned this trip.

A8
A little drummer girl.

A9
Of course, the pros can handle.  Our City's own Royal Hawaiian Band.

A10
Remember....VW's Bugs normally have their engines in the back of the car.

A11
As in every major parade, the U.S. Marines Marching Band.  Knowing that our men and women in uniform are fighting overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan, if the sight of them didn't bring a tear to your eyes, something's missing in you.

A12
Maybe it was only with me, but these Marines looked to have enough energy left to run back the entire length of the parade route without breaking a sweat.

A14_1
An Army contingent out for a stroll.

A15
"Anchors Away"

A17
Along with the rest of the cast of their troupe, these guys really livened things up.  You just had to be there to feel the energy emanating from these dancers, but in case you weren't, the girl in the inset photo says it all.

A19
Of course, if you just happened to be a beauty queen, even with a "Mrs." in your title....you get to ride. Dingbat_story_end_icon_43
